RFP: The Implementation of eLearning Modules - Literacy

School districts, buildings and community schools served by the State Support Team Region 1 are eligible to submit a proposal for eLearning Modules to assist in planning high-quality professional development in literacy and instruction highlighting vocabulary and comprehension for students who are in grades K - 12.

eLearning allows districts to tailor professional development to their unique needs. Many courses are available, including those listed below

Proposals will be accepted and processed starting October 15, 2009, and continuing until available funds are used. RFP awardees will be notified via letter and posted below.

  • Marzano’s High Yield Strategies (K - 5); (6 - 12)
  • The Five Essential Components of Reading Instruction (K - 6) [National Reading Panel 2000]
  • Access-Plan-Teach in Action (K - 6)
  • Early Language Learning (Pre-K - 3)
  • Building Comprehension (4 - 6) [National Reading Panel 2000]
  • Scaffolding for individual Instruction (K - 5) [Universal Design for Learning]
  • Differentiating Instruction for Diverse Student Needs (K - 5) [Universal Design for Learning] [Tomlinson]
  • Supporting English Language Learners in the Classroom (K - 8)

  • Adolescent Literacy in a Changing World (4 - 12)
  • Developing Adolescents’ Content Vocabulary and Word Power (4 - 12)
  • Supporting the Adolescent Reader as a Strategist (4 - 12)
  • Fostering Students’ Comprehension of Texts (4 - 12)

Notes

The updated version of the RFP is now available. Recipient awards now cover up to $4,000 per course. Take advantage of the exceptional opportunity now; the proposal process will close once all available funds are depleted. The State Support Team Region 1 will notify RFP awardees by letter.

RFP: SIM Learning Strategies

The State Support Team Region 1 is accepting requests for proposals for SIM (Strategic Instruction Model) Learning Strategies Request for Proposal. Teachers in local school districts, community schools, and community agencies that provide intervention services to students with disabilities and struggling learners are eligible to apply.

Awardees agree to the following:

  • SIM Learning Strategies Training - June 8-11, 2010
  • Monthly Cohort Sessions
  • Online learning
  • Monthly on-site visits by an SSTR1 Learning Strategies coach
  • Additional Two day January Training (to be determined)
Districts will be reimbursed for substitute teacher costs associated with training and attendance at monthly cohort sessions per the school calendar. Participant materials will be provided by the State Support Team Region 1. Payment will be issued to districts, educational service centers, community schools and community agencies based on submitted invoices. Information will be sent to the recipient Treasurer’s office or designated business office outlining specific procedures.
