Times of economic crisis have inspired David Kaiser and his wife, Kelly Kaiser, to make major commitments in the Toledo area.
And now, on the heels of the coronavirus pandemic, the couple finds themselves getting ready to make some big moves — to the tune of roughly $7 million — with plans to open a new preschool this January and a K-12 charter school in the fall of 2023.
Currently much of their Baby U building at 1842 Broadway St., Toledo, is being renovated.
But in January it will become the Mosaic Early Learning Center. A year-and-a-half later the Mosaic Classical Academy will open down the road at the former Viking Lodge at 1623 Broadway St.
The K-12 school will be similar to the Northwest Ohio Classical Academy in that it will be partnered with Hillsdale College’s Barney Charter School Initiative that has a heavy emphasis on the sciences and liberal arts, as well as intellectual, moral, and civic virtues.
