Vanguard Sentinel Career & Technology Center will be one of three sites statewide to launch telecommunications tower technician programs, as the state ramps up its efforts to boost Ohio’s workforce in its broadband industry.
Ohio Lt. Gov. Jon Husted, who serves as director of the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation (OWT), on Wednesday announced the launch of the programs, which will be based at North Central State College, Hocking College, and Vanguard Sentinel.
A news release reported the announcement is part of a larger effort by OWT and
BroadbandOhio to grow the workforce needed to expand broadband access and 5G in Ohio.
Angie Morelock, Vanguard Sentinel’s public relations and communications director, told the News-Messenger Thursday the school is aiming to start the program by March 2022, with a goal of having eight adult students in Vanguard’s first class.
