2026 Special Education Ratings now available

The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce released the 2026 Special Education Ratings for all districts and community schools on October 15, 2026. Each year, districts and schools in Ohio receive a rating evaluating the performance of their special education programs. The Department calculates this rating using final data submitted through the Education Management Information System (EMIS) and completion of the prior Special Education Profile monitoring cycle.

The compilation of data results in one of four possible ratings: Meets Requirements, Needs Assistance, Needs Intervention, or Needs Substantial Intervention. See  Ohio’s Special Education Ratings webpage for more details on how the rating is determined.

The Department emailed notifications to superintendents, special education contacts, and community school sponsors with instructions to access their rating reports through the Department’s OHID portal.
