The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce offers a free ReadOhio Coaching Credential to literacy coaches employed in districts and community schools.
There are now 131 coaching credential participants alongside ReadOhio Coaches; further, all district partners have been connected to one of the nine ReadOhio Coaching Mentors to support implementation throughout the school year.
District coaches will complete the Department’s Instructional Coaching for Literacy Course via the learning management system (LMS) modules and attend 2-day in-person ReadOhio Coaching Credential kickoff training event at their home base educational service center (ESC).
From September 2026-May 2027, coaches in the ReadOhio Coaching Credential program will participate in at least six monthly network meetings hosted by their home base ESC. Building principals with a literacy coach in the ReadOhio Coaching Credential program will participate in four virtual community of practice sessions throughout the school year.
