Katie Novak and Mirko Chavin have provided a tool and a pathway for educators to begin the difficult conversations related to social justice and education. Their book, Equity by Design uses the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework as a means and connection to develop inclusive and socially just classrooms.
In this book study, participants will discuss these relevant topics and learn practical applications for using the UDL framework. We will discuss removing barriers that affect the students we serve, and put our learning into practice to create a culturally responsive learning environment for all students. Participants will be asked to respond to reflection questions between each meeting.
