According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) website, “More than two thirds of children reported at least one traumatic event by age 16.” Trauma often manifests itself in behaviors that interfere with academics in our classrooms. Join us for this virtual book study, where we will discuss Fostering Resilient Learners: Strategies for Creating a Trauma-Sensitive Classroom by Kristin Souers with Pete Hall. According to the on-line back jacket cover, this book will provide proven, reliable strategies to help participants:

  • Understand what trauma is and how it hinders the learning, motivation, and success of all students in the classroom
  • Build strong relationships and create a safe space to enable students to lean a high levels
  • Adopt a strength-based approach that leads you to recalibrate how you view destructive student behaviors and to perceive what students need to break negative cycles
  • Head off frustration and burnout with essential self-care techniques that will help you and your students flourish

Each participant who registers by the deadline date of January 10, 2023 will receive a free copy of the book Fostering Resilient Learners: Strategies For Creating a Trauma-Sensitive Classroom by Kristin Souers with Pete Hall.
