On April 5, 2022 Betty Kern will discuss Student Brain Breaks and Teacher Self Care

Abstract Research supports inserting brain breaks (physical activity) into lessons or between lessons in the classroom to help students make connections and retain information!  In this session, we will briefly discuss the research behind brain breaks and follow up with participation in several brain break activities!  You will leave with tools and resources to help you implement brain breaks the next day in your classroom!  What is usually last on a teacher’s list to make time for?  Teacher self care!  Let’s explore easy ways to implement some self-care strategies to help you manage the demands of teaching in an ever-changing environment!

Speaker Bio: Betty Kern, MS, CSCS is a professional educator with over 30 years teaching experience.  Betty has taught a variety of subjects including high school math, junior high math, junior high health, high school health, high school physical education, junior high physical education and elementary physical education.  Betty was named the Ohio Physical Education Teacher of the Year in 2017.  She has presented at the National SHAPE America conference yearly since 2008 and has presented in numerous state and regional physical education and health conferences.
