Under Ohio law, districts and schools must administer a Tier 1 dyslexia screener to all kindergarten students between the first day of January of their kindergarten year and the first day of January of the following school year.
The Tier 1 dyslexia screener identifies students whose current level of skills indicate they may be at risk for reading difficulties such as dyslexia. Districts and schools must use a Tier 1 screener from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce’s list of approved assessments.
