Ohio’s Preschool Special Education team ensures that all 88 counties are supported through 16 State Support Team (SST) regions, each served by one of three Educational Program Specialists from the Ohio Department of Children and Youth (DCY).
These specialists are:
- Experienced educators in preschool special education
- Experts in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
- Equipped to provide:
- Guidance on IDEA compliance
- Support to parents and families about a variety of preschool special education services, and how to navigate the preschool special education process
- Support to early childhood special education educators, administrators, and service providers serving young children with special needs
