Join us for a discussion about an important and helpful book during changing times!
Unlearning by Allison Posey and Katie Novak arrived just as the COVID-19 pandemic began and it couldn’t have been more timely! As we have had to unlearn and relearn how we operate, the authors offer a wealth of insight into using the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework to transform educational practices.
Written in an easy, fun, Malcom Gladwell style, the book demonstrates how the brain responds to unlearning and relearning, why we hold onto our favorite practices, and why we resist change. It is full of great examples and advice.
Together we will discuss the “unlearning cycle” and challenge ourselves to think differently about what, how, and why we teach. We will put our learning into practice by responding to reflection questions and determining next steps.
