A sight word is any word that is recognized instantly and effortlessly, by sight, whether it is spelled regularly or irregularly. In this session, participants will be taught how to use the phonics tools needed to understand, sound out, and read the words. This evidence based practice, when implemented as intended has proven effective in increasing early literacy skills in grades K-2, as opposed to practices such as the use of flashcards.

Participants will receive the book Sounding Out the Sight Words by Denise Eide & Cindy Kringelis
