Description - The Literacy Leaders Network is a professional learning opportunity designed to support district and school literacy leaders in developing, strengthening, and sustaining effective Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 literacy support systems aligned with evidence-based literacy practices and a tiered framework for reading improvement. Across seven network sessions, participants will move from examining the foundational components of a strong tiered literacy framework to applying systems-level practices for student identification, intervention design, progress monitoring, implementation fidelity, and sustainability.
Learning will be grounded in collaborative problem-solving, district case studies, authentic data scenarios, and Communities of Practice (CoP). Participants will have opportunities to examine their current systems, identify gaps, learn from other districts, and apply new learning to their own context. CoP groups will allow participants to collaborate with colleagues from similar urban, suburban, and rural/community school settings, providing opportunities to problem-solve common challenges while considering the unique needs and capacity of their local systems.
Topics will include universal screening and student identification, Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention design, scheduling and resource allocation, progress monitoring and data-based decision making, intervention intensification, implementation fidelity, staff capacity building, evaluation, and sustainability.
