Resource for Promoting Mental Health and Well-Being in Schools Available

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Division of Adolescent and School Health developed the Promoting Mental Health and Well-Being in Schools Action Guide for School Administrators. The recent Youth Risk Behavior Survey data show that adolescent mental health has been worsening for more than a decade and key indicators of poor mental health, like depressive symptoms and suicidality, have reached alarming levels.

The guide provides evidence-based strategies to strengthen student resilience and promote school-based mental health and well-being. It discusses increasing mental health literacy, promoting mindfulness and life skills development, enhancing connectedness, and supporting school staff well-being.
